Chinese Egg Roll in a Bowl
This Chinese Egg Roll in A Bowl is now my family’s favorite! It’s a crazy good mix of ground turkey, coleslaw mix, grated carrots, sesame oil, rice vinegar, soy sauce, minced fresh garlic, ground ginger, slice green onions and diced sweet onion. A lot of ingredients combine well together, then, offer a good meal. Savory and flavorful, this bowl promises to satisfy your taste buds!
Regarding the meat, you can use ground turkey (as the recipe), or ground beef, ground pork, ground chicken. It really depends. As pork and turkey are highly consumed in China, you can make your egg roll bowl with these. They are still tasty, and more importantly, make your meals more appealing. Ready in 20 minutes, this Chinese dish is perfect for any busy week day’s dinner. To my family, it becomes a “to-go” recipe when I’m short on time.

Ingredients
1 lb. ground turkey breast (or ground chicken, ground beef, or ground pork)
1 (16 ounce) bag coleslaw mix
½ cup grated or “matchstick” carrots
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
2 teaspoons minced fresh garlic
1 teaspoon ground ginger
¼ cup less sodium soy sauce
2 green onions, thinly sliced
1 sweet onion, diced
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce (optional)
Directions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add ground turkey and cook until no longer pink; stirring often. Drain and return to skillet.
- Add diced onion, sesame oil, and rice vinegar. Stir fry for a few more minutes, until onion is tender.
- Stir in garlic, ginger, soy sauce, hoisin sauce (optional), coleslaw mix, and carrots. Continue to cook for about 5-7 more minutes, or until cabbage is wilted; stirring often.
- Remove from heat. Stir in green onions and season with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Serve!
