Your taste buds are all in a treat with these Syn Free Pizza Toasts. As the name suggests, they are a mini version of pizza. Toast base (crust), pizza sauce and pizza toppings. The point here is they are incredibly easy and quick to serve, making them a great choice for breakfast, brunch, lunch or even snack. Bread slices are lightly toasted, then spread with passata, sprinkled with Italian herbs, and topped with layers of sliced red onion, sliced ham, grated mozzarella, and sliced tomatoes. Bread slices are lightly toasted, then spread with passata, sprinkled with Italian herbs, and topped with layers of sliced red onion, sliced ham, grated mozzarella, and sliced tomatoes. They are finally baked in the oven until cheese is melted and toast is crisp and golden.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of whole wheat bread

  • 2oz of mozzarella cheese, grated or sliced

  • 2 slices of ham, sliced up

  • 1 large vine tomato, thinly sliced

  • half a small red onion, sliced

  • passata

  • Italian herbs

  • salt and black pepper

  • splash of balsamic vinegar

  • Spray oil

  • freshly chopped Italian parsley or basil

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degree F.
  • Lightly toast the bread.
  • Spray baking tray with spray oil. Place on bread slices. Spread with passata and a sprinkling of Italian herbs.
  • Add some red onion, sliced ham and mozzarella on top.
  • Top with tomato slices. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar and season with salt and black pepper.
  • Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and toast is crisp and golden.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh chopped herbs.
  • Serve with a side of your choice.
